Influenza otherwise known as the flu is a contagious virus that spread in between October and May.

Some symptoms of the flu:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat

Anyone can get the flu. The virus is spread mainly of coughing, sneezing, and close contact with someone with the virus.

Every year, thousands of people in the U.S. die from the flu. One of the main ways to keep from getting the flu is to get the flu shot.  Receiving the flu vaccine also can make the flu less severe if you get it, and help reduce the spread of it.

As a caregiver, consider taking the vaccine. Many caregivers are so busy caring for others they neglect to take proper care of themselves. So stop now and call your doctor to see if the flu vaccine is something that you should take.
