Getting Proper healthcare comes down to understanding which healthcare practitioner can help you. Do you know the difference between an Urologist and a Nephrologist? Both of them deal with the urinary system but their specialties are totally different.

An Urologist is a physician who specializes in the knowledge of problems dealing with the urinary tract system. Most urologists do surgery related to male reproductive organs.The urinary and reproductive tracts are closely related. Some disorders that an Urologist may treat are Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), Prostate Cancer, Kidney Stones and Incontinence. If you are having problems in any of these areas you may need to be referred to an Urologist.

 

A Nephrologist is a doctor who specializes in the health of your kidneys. Here are a few diseases they treat: Chronic Kidney disease, Acute Renal Failure, Kidney Stones and even high blood pressure. They manage patients who are on Dialysis or who have had kidney transplants. If you have had problems with your kidneys this doctor can help you manage them.Knowing the difference between the two can help you better manage your health or the health of your loved ones.

In your article, you stated that some disorders that a Urologist may treat are Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), Prostate Cancer, Kidney Stones and Incontinence. My wife called me at work this morning because she was experiencing some really severe pain in her abdomen. I wonder if you need a referral to be seen by a urologist.
